DISAPPEARANCE. Between May 68 and pop art, this joyful and earthy painter marked the history of French society with his vermilion red. He died in Paris on June 18.

Gérard Fromanger, the lover of life, of Italy, of Siena, of its light, of its scorching summers, of its Renaissance, of painting as a noble art for the benefit of youth and universal causes, died in 81 years old, Friday June 18 at La Salpêtrière in Paris. Despite the cancer that had hollowed out his cheeks and lightened his hair, this handsome dark-haired man with an aquiline nose who was carried by the events of May 68, this jovial painter with such a naturally charming story, had remained an eternal young man. It was enough for him to laugh and to catch fire for a new discussion, raising his eyebrows like two circumflex accents, to grab his colored markers, to keep them grouped in a bundle and thus to draw a magnificent four-color lettering, so that we forget the illness for the moment.
