Herford man kills girlfriend with Samuara sword

A 42-year-old killed his girlfriend with a samurai sword. The man has now been convicted of manslaughter. The court assumed that the perpetrator had limited control.

The Bielefeld district court has sentenced a 37-year-old man to six years' imprisonment for killing his girlfriend with a samurai sword.

According to the conviction of the court, the man from Herford killed the woman out of anger and jealousy with a sword stab in the stomach in January 2021.

The defendant had admitted the act, but claimed gaps in his memory.

The judges took this as a confession.

Placement in rehab arranged

According to the judges, the 37-year-old had only limited control at the time of the crime, he was convicted of manslaughter.

According to an expert, he had more than three per thousand alcohol in his blood.

According to the court, victims and perpetrators were alcoholic.

For this reason, the court also ordered her to be placed in a detention center.

Before the stab with the 75 centimeter long blade, a samurai sword ordered on the Internet, there should have been a dispute the day before about the woman's sex life.

After a party at a friend's house, the 42-year-old did not come home.

When she returned to the apartment the next day, the argument is said to have escalated.

The man struck with the sword, the 42-year-old bled to death.

The judgment is not yet final.

The public prosecutor's office and the convicted person can appeal against it.

The prosecutor had requested seven years in prison, the defense attorney three and a half.
