The city of Munich is taking legal action against a planned Oktoberfest in Dubai.
On Friday next week, the Munich District Court I will be negotiating an injunction by the Bavarian capital against the organizers of the Dubai Oktoberfest, a spokeswoman confirmed.
The "Mediengruppe Münchner Merkur tz" had previously reported on it.
Under the motto "Oktoberfest goes Dubai", the inaccurate impression is given that the Oktoberfest is moving to Dubai this year after the corona-related cancellation in Munich, as the economic department had announced in mid-May. The city demands a cease and desist declaration from the organizers in which they agree not to advertise their event with the Oktoberfest Munich anymore.
"From the point of view of the state capital Munich, it is frightening that third parties are taking the rejection as an opportunity to enrich themselves by exploiting the worldwide good reputation of the Oktoberfest and suggesting that there is a connection between the original and the event in Dubai," said the Munich economic advisor and Wiesn boss Clemens Baumgärtner (CSU).
"The aim of our legal procedure is to protect the Munich Oktoberfest's good reputation worldwide."
