Great relief in Portugal: A two-and-a-half-year-old child who had been missing since early Wednesday morning was found alive after 36 hours in a wooded area in the municipality of Proença-a-Velha - about four kilometers from the parents' home.
Noah was seen by passers-by shortly after 8 p.m. (21 CEST) on Thursday, who immediately alerted the police, reported the newspaper “Diário de Notícias” and other media, citing the authorities.
No evidence of third-party debt
The boy probably ran away, there was no evidence of third-party negligence, said a police spokesman.
The child has slight scratches and is weakened, but otherwise he is fine.
For security reasons, it spent the night in a clinic in Castelo Branco about 200 kilometers northeast of Lisbon.
In addition to numerous emergency services, volunteers also took part in the search for Noah.
On Friday, the good news was the main topic of many TV programs and also on social networks.
The newspaper "Correio da Manha" and other media headlined in unison: "A miracle!"
