V'lan in the eye: disloyal love

At the Théâtre du Châtelet in Paris, Hervé's operetta offers a delirious pastiche of Freischütz… but with a few lengths. To be seen as part of the 8th Palazzetto Bru Zane festival.

V'lan dans l'œil

: the first successful opera-bouffe by Offenbach's main rival, Louis-Auguste-Florimond Ronger, alias Hervé.

Neither more nor less than the absurd and crazy French parody of

Freischütz

by Weber (a milestone opera of German romanticism, with its choirs of hunters, its deep forests, its shooting competition and its revelations), which Hervé took pleasure in deriding in 1867.

Impossible to sum up, this fable which flirts as well with surrealism as the cabaret spirit is one of the rediscoveries of the 8th festival of the Palazzetto Bru Zane in Paris.
