Radio France is reinventing itself.
While the FM branch of the public service has just renamed its headquarters on Wednesday "

Next January, we are going to organize
the hyperweekend
, the first Radio France music festival, in the Maison de la radio et de la musique.
Over three days, it will bring together the variety of musical genres found on our channels, with additional musical creations and new encounters that help bring the French scene to life
, ”she said.
The public group thus wants to make its commitment to artists over the long term.
A bias that developed strongly during the pandemic, as also symbolized by the new name of the Maison de la radio, celebrated Wednesday with concerts in public.
According to Sibyle Veil, it is not only a question of recognizing the importance of music in the history and activities of the group, which has 3 branches dedicated to sound (France Musique, Fip and Mouv ') and two generalists (France Inter and France Bleu) on music, but also two orchestras, a choir and a master's degree.
Radio France teams also record and broadcast more than 1000 concerts per year.
The recent times have pushed the group to expand these activities, providing an audience and income to musicians suffocated by the pandemic.
The five branches have increased the place of music in its programs, by launching a competition for young singer-songwriters or even by preparing a “
grand tour
” of the National Orchestra of France in medium-sized towns.
