(ANSA) - PARIS, JUN 20 - Polls open this morning in France for the first round of regional elections, the last "dress rehearsal" for the majority of Emmanuel Macron in the presidential elections scheduled in a year's time. The extreme right Marine Le Pen, the Rassemblement National, is favored by polls to snatch 6 out of 13 regions from the moderate right and left Républicains. The performance of La République en Marchedi Macron will be uncertain and difficult to interpret, which in the previous regional ones in 2015 , did not exist, and in much of the territory it is present with alliances or desistances.
The ballot, postponed for 3 months due to the pandemic, provides for a ballot in a week. 48 million French are called to the polls but forecasts already speak of a record abstention, even higher than the 51% recorded in the first round of 2015. (ANSA).
