Cycling is actually healthy - but you can also put your health at risk.

For example, by driving right next to cars where there is no speed limit: A 44-year-old wanted to cycle from Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania to Szczecin in Poland on the hard shoulder of Autobahn 20 - that's where he lives.

A bus driver had alerted the police in Neubrandenburg on Saturday around 11 a.m. when he saw the cyclist at the Pasewalk-Süd junction.

Police stopped the man.

He said that he didn't know any other way home, the police said.

After an urgent briefing, the officials released the 44-year-old into the care of the bus driver.

He had agreed to take the man and his bike to the next junction.

From there the bike tour should continue on federal and country roads - with sweaty temperatures around 30 degrees.
