The Ministry of Health reported this Sunday that
a new imported case of the Delta variant
of the coronavirus
was detected
in Argentina.
It is the mutation that was originally detected in India.
It is the
third case
of this variant detected in the country, after being found in
two boys who live in the City
and returned from Paris on April 24.
The new contagion reported this Sunday is that of a 26-year-old man who arrived in the country on June 4 from the United States.
From detection to entry into the country, the passenger was
isolated for 10 days
in a hotel in the City of Buenos Aires.
The young man arrived accompanied by another person - age did not transcend - who underwent two tests and both were negative.
In any case, he performed home isolation.
Both are in good health.
"At the time of arrival, the passenger had a negative PCR performed 48 hours prior to the trip, and upon entering the country, in the testing operations that are carried out systematically on all travelers, he presented a positive antigen test and the sample to the reference laboratory for genomic analysis, "the health portfolio detailed in a statement.
After detecting the contagion in Ezeiza, the sample was analyzed at the ANLIS-Malbrán National Reference Laboratory.
This Sunday the result was known that revealed that the young man had been infected with the Delta variant.
This mutation, originally identified in India, is
one of the variants of concern
that are under surveillance by the national health authorities.
