This Sunday marks the end of a daily life under curfew, the start of a reunion with the nightlife, after eight months of separation.
The early lifting of this very symbolic health measure, whose initial expiration date was June 30, proves that the health situation is improving "faster than expected", as Prime Minister Jean Castex said last week.
Hospital data are indeed very encouraging: the epidemic is tending to ebb, the pressure on hospital services continues to drop, with 1,703 Covid-19 patients in critical care services - the most serious forms - this Sunday, according to figures from Public Health France.
Exactly the same number as Saturday.
Never has such a low level been reached since last October.
51 people admitted to hospital in the last 24 hours
And only 15 patients suffering from a severe form of the disease have been treated in critical care units in the past 24 hours.
As an indication, there were 24 the day before, and 53 Friday.
France now has 10,518 people hospitalized due to Covid-19, compared to 10,531 on Saturday and 12,480 seven days ago.
In the past 24 hours, only 51 people have been admitted there, up from 102 on Saturday, half as many.
In addition, the health authorities count 14 people dead from the disease in the last 24 hours, against 22 the day before.
In all, 110,738 people have died from Covid-19 since the start of the epidemic in the country.
