In the end, the battered vehicle burned and the driver ended up in the cell: A man in Wiehl, North Rhine-Westphalia, used an excavator to riot on a new property.
A neighbor had alerted the police on Friday evening because he saw the stranger driving the excavator against the facade of the shell and trees with loud music.
When the neighbor spoke to the man, he reacted aggressively and drove towards the neighbor, the police said.
The neighbor dodged, and the excavator slipped on a slope, overturned and caught fire.
The fire brigade put out the burning vehicle.
The 41-year-old driver violently resisted being transported in a patrol car to the police for a blood test and was handcuffed.
A police officer was slightly injured during arrest.
The excavator driver spent the night in the cell; criminal proceedings await him.
