A driver who is said to have caused the death of a woman in an illegal car race in Bavaria is now in custody.
The police and public prosecutor in Augsburg announced that an arrest warrant had been issued against the 27-year-old on suspicion of murder.
At the beginning of April, the man had switched to the opposite lane on a country road near Monheim for reasons that were initially unclear and had rammed an oncoming car.
Its 54-year-old driver died at the scene of the accident.
The person who caused the accident and his 28-year-old passenger were injured.
As the investigators announced, video recordings, testimony and a traffic report indicate that the driver had taken part in an illegal car race.
He is also said to have violated the Narcotics Act.
According to the information, the accused himself has not yet commented on the allegations.
