Labor shortages are on the rise in the United States and the United Kingdom

2021-06-26T23:24:00.034Z

Catering, transport, construction: sectors that require difficult hours have the greatest difficulty in recruiting staff.

In the United States, the airline company Delta Airlines had to cancel in April nearly a hundred flights in one weekend, due to insufficient flight personnel.

In east London, the Italian restaurant Ombra has resigned itself to closing two days a week for lack of staff, despite the influx of customers since the reopening.

The establishment employs eight people and would need another six to open seven days a week.

“Our employees already have a contract of forty-eight hours per week and some work overtime, but we need a lot more.

Since the Covid and partial unemployment, people no longer want to work long hours in restaurants.

Some have found less difficult jobs in offices, others are reviewing the balance between their private and professional life, ”

testifies Giulia Fusco, manager of the restaurant.
