Argentina reported the fewest coronavirus cases since March: there were 8,606 in the last 24 hours

Infections are down 43% from the May peak. The Health Ministry reported another 448 deaths. There are 7,345 patients in intensive care.

In the middle of the long weekend, the Government released the new coronavirus figures in Argentina.

In the last 24 hours,

8,606

COVID-19

infections

were confirmed

, the

lowest

number

since the end of March

.

In addition, another

448 deaths

were reported

throughout the country.

Both numbers come out of the daily part published this Monday by the Ministry of Health, based on the data reported by the provinces.

The report had a very low test load:

Last week the average had been 91 thousand.

Today's number of infected is the lowest since March 28, when 7,208 were reported.

The average number of daily infections - taking the numbers from the last week - is

18,844

.

This represents

a 43% drop from

the peak recorded in May, when the average reached 33,171 on Sunday the 23rd.

There are currently 7,345 patients with covid-19 in intensive care throughout the country.

The positivity rate this Monday - which measures how many of the people tested had the virus - was

Buenos Aires reported 2,466 positive cases, the fewest in the second wave.

It was the

only province that exceeded a thousand infections

in the last 24 hours.

More vaccines


This Monday the Ministry of Health reported that

half of those over 20 have

already received at least one vaccine against covid-19 nationwide.
