(ANSA) - FIUMICINO, June 27 - From this morning at Fiumicino airport, in the area reserved for the State Ceremonial for the transit of political and religious personalities, the arrivals of many of the participants in the plenary ministerial meeting of the anti-Daesh Coalition ( the other Roman airport interested in hosting the landing of the various delegations is that of Ciampino) which will be held tomorrow for the first time in the capital at the new Fiera di Roma and which will be co-chaired by the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Luigi Di Maio, together to the US Secretary of State, AntonyBlinken (this is the fifth time in a few months that Blinken and Di Maiosi have seen in person. A breakfast at Villa Madama is also scheduled today).

This is a long-awaited appointment, more than 2 years after the previous meeting in large format in February 2019. The Ministerial is expected to be attended by over 40 ministers of the countries joining the Coalition and, among others, by NATO Secretary General Stoltenberg and EU High Representative Borrell, as well as some African countries invited as observers.

The meeting will be an opportunity to renew the collective commitment of the members of the Coalition to the lasting defeat of Daesh and to prevent any attempt to recover. To this end, ministers will reiterate the importance of maintaining a high level of attention on the commitment, including financial, to the stabilization of the liberated areas in Iraq and Syria. The fight against the global dimension of ISIS will also be at the center of the discussions, in particular its propagation in Africa and the need to counteract its roots in the most fragile areas of the continent, starting from the Sahel. On the sidelines of the Coalition meeting there will also be a restricted informed meeting on Syria chaired by Secretary of State Blinken, which will also be attended by Minister Di Maio. (HANDLE).
