Less than a year after the presidential elections of 2022, the hardest and most unexpected blow is that inflicted on the Rassemblemement National, the nationalist party of Marine Le Pen, which does not conquer even a region, stopping at 20.5% of the preferences according to data on a scale national broadcast by the Ifop-Fiducial institute. A real disappointment for the former Front National that many polls gave instead as in strong progress in this test vote ten months after the race for the Elysée. According to experts, the Rassemblement National is the party that most of all suffers from record abstention. As in the first round on Sunday 20 June, about two out of three voters snubbed the polls. Slap also to the presidential majority of Emmanuel Macron, steady at 7%, a confirmation of the lack of local roots of En Marche. There will be no government reshuffle but "necessary and limited adjustments", executive sources told Bfm-tv. This ballot, on the other hand, marks the great return of the neo-Gaullist right. With 38% of the vote, Républicains and allies appear as the first political force in the country, ready to embark on the presidential race. At the moment, the most determined seems to be Xavier Bertrand, outgoing president of the Hauts-de-France region, who was reconfirmed by placing first in front of the lepenist candidate, and who already speaks as a presidential candidate: "This result gives me the strength to meet to all the French ", he declared immediately after the closing of the polling stations. The union of the left and the ecologists also did well, with 34.5% of the preferences,in what appears to be a return of the more traditional parties, of the "old world", after the Macron-Le Pen bipolarism.
