In the world of nutrition it is difficult to crown one food as healthier than another. Each food contains different nutritional values, each of which contributes to our overall health in a different way. One way that has failed is to brand certain foods as superfoods. Superfoods were usually exotic and extremely expensive. So what can be done? My way is to choose foods that have a large concentration of nutritional values, those that have added value and those that are available for every pocket. Of course there are hundreds of foods worth eating, this time we will start with 4 that will upgrade your kitchen:

red beets or berries

It sounds funny to put these foods under the same category but it is nutritionally correct since they both contain an antioxidant called anthocyanin.

Anthocyanin gives the berries and remove their red color, originally present in them to protect the plant.

In eating beets or berries we actually get ourselves the same protection.

This antioxidant helps prevent the oxidative damage we are subjected to.

Berries in Israel are less accessible because they are difficult to grow here.

You can enjoy a variety of berries in season and out of season to purchase imported.

Their price is not always friendly compared to the price of beets and it is a great and super healthy solution.

Oatmeal

Although the first connotation that arises when you hear the phrase oatmeal is porridge - oatmeal is a whole culinary world. Why should you consume it? Aside from being a whole grain rich in dietary fiber that helps maintain satiety and health, oatmeal contains a variety of minerals and vitamins that we would not necessarily expect to find in it. It contains plant iron, calcium, a variety of B vitamins and of course protein. Of course you can make a classic porridge from it, but you can also use it as a thickener for soup, as a coating for schnitzels, you can make risotto from it and even eat it cold.

Orange lentils

The orange lentils belong to the legume family.

This family also includes lentils in the other colors, green peas, beans in all colors (except green which is actually a vegetable), chickpeas, beans and lupines.

The legume family are carbohydrates that also contain a lot of protein (relative to other carbohydrates), dietary fiber and the minerals iron and calcium.

Apart from the preparation of soups or spreads, legumes are easy to combine in almost any dish from Majdara to a long-cooked stew.

The reason why I chose orange lentils is that they are very easy to prepare.

It is not necessary to soak orange lentils before cooking so that delicacies can also be prepared spontaneously.

You can thicken soups with them or even make orange lentil chickpeas out of them.

Orange lentils and the whole legume family are a sustainable and environmentally friendly crop which is of course a significant added value.

Accessible water

It is impossible to talk about a healthy diet without mentioning drinking water.

Water is very important for maintaining our health and its consumption is often pushed aside.

Water is a key component of the human body.

Our blood plasma, for example, consists of a significant amount of water and its role is to move energy from place to place.

Dehydration means, among other things, impairing our body's ability to carry energy.

Apart from the extracellular water inside the cells of our body there is water.

Within our body cells water is important in energy production.

As everyone knows dehydration will be accompanied not only by damage to the processes that take place within our body, but also by headaches and in severe cases even fainting.

Therefore, maintaining accessible and clean water is very important.
