46-year-old from Mendoza died
of complications from the coronavirus, ten days after a cesarean section in which her twins were born.
It was an emergency surgery because the mother had to be intubated due to the difficulty she had to breathe.
The babies were born premature,
but they are fine

She did not get to know them.
The twins, a girl and a boy, are 16 days old.
They are admitted to the neonatology area of the Spanish hospital, in Godoy Cruz, Greater Mendoza.
They have evolved well and are visited by their father and grandmother, according to
the director of the hospital, Walter Vázquez

The entire community of the Spanish hospital is moved by the drama of
Paola Flores
, who had undergone several fertility treatments to get pregnant.
This time he had succeeded but his health ended up affected by contracting
covid-19
.
She was not vaccinated.
The sad outcome occurred on the sixth day of Paola's hospitalization.
After going through the onset of the disease without too many complications, the pregnant woman began to
saturate less oxygen in her blood
.
She was transferred to intensive care.
"The medical team that assisted her decided that she should intubate her and before that, she had to deliver because the babies' lives were at risk," Vázquez explained.

The only risk history he had was

The woman was in her sixth month of pregnancy when intensive care doctors had to decide to perform a cesarean section due to her worsening health.
She and her husband Matías, the twins' father, agreed to advance the delivery.
As soon as the babies were born, they were referred to intensive infant therapy and then to neonatology.
From that moment, they are fed through a tube with breast milk, from the hospital milk bank.
The twins are out of danger.
Every day they are visited by their father and grandmother.
Tomorrow an aunt will join, so that the little ones receive the greatest possible family affection.
“Everyone asks about the evolution of babies.
I ordered protocols so that the closest relatives can visit them,
with previous swabs
.
We have done everything possible to mitigate the pain in some way, "said Dr. Vázquez.
The father of the babies was very grateful to all the efforts of the hospital staff.
"I would hug each one of those who have collaborated to save their lives," said Matías, who visits his children in neonatology every day.
The Mendoza Post newspaper told the story of Paola, who worked as a biochemist at the main maternal hospital in the province of Cuyo, the Luis Lagomaggiore hospital.
She was on leave because she was carrying a risk pregnancy and had not been vaccinated.
Regarding the mother's health, the director of the hospital explained to

how it was getting worse.
On June 2, he entered with a picture that was not a suspicion of Covid, since he only had edema and hives.
On the fourth day, she began apnea and a CT scan was performed that confirmed bilateral pneumonia.
The next day, he was tested positive for Covid.
Doctors decided to start with medication to mature the babies' lungs.
The mother's health worsened on June 11, with a blood oxygen saturation of 88 so she was fitted with a high-flow cannula.
On June 12, respiratory failure increased and, together with the father, a cesarean section was decided for the 12th.
On June 17, the patient developed
a high fever and kidney failure
.
And on June 22, the respiratory failure was progressive and
a multiple organ failure
occurred
that caused his death.
Faced with extreme pain and fatigue from the pandemic, hospital staff have turned to helping the family.
Each day, the twins show improvement and it is possible that in a month they can be discharged.
