Eating chocolate for breakfast may sound like the worst idea there is for someone trying to diet, or at all, but new research reveals it may be a healthier idea than many think.

Researchers at Brigham Hospital (BWH) at Harvard say replacing the omelet with a few chocolate cubes can actually lead to more fat burning and lowering blood sugar levels throughout the day.

The international team that conducted the study found that consuming chocolate during a narrow window of time after awakening improves health.

In the study, conducted on postmenopausal women, the researchers examined 19 women who ate 100 grams of chocolate within an hour of waking up each morning.

The group also consumed the same amount of chocolate an hour before bed.

The team compared their weight gain and other health data to people who do not eat chocolate.

The surprising results of the study showed that eating chocolate in the morning and at night did not lead to weight gain in these women.

And if that’s not surprising enough, eating chocolate in the two hours examined in the study can affect appetite, microbiome balance in the gut and sleep quality.

Legitimate breakfast.

The study found that eating chocolate for breakfast can increase fat burning and metabolism.

It also lowers blood glucose levels, a key measure for people at risk for diabetes.

At night, eating chocolate before bed led to changes in metabolism at rest and exercise the next morning.

"Our findings highlight that not only 'what' but also 'when' we eat can affect physiological mechanisms involved in regulating body weight," study author Dr. Frank A.J. Shaleer said in a press release. Ours did not gain weight despite the high calorie intake.

Our results show that chocolate has reduced energy consumption, in line with the decline observed in hunger, appetite and cravings for sweets shown in previous studies. "

Believe it or not, this is not the first study to find that morning chocolate is a great habit.

An Israeli study published in 2017 found that a diet that includes chocolate cake at breakfast will help you lose weight.

Research from Tel Aviv University found that eating cookies, chocolate or the winning combination of the two at the beginning of the day, along with complex proteins and carbohydrates, helps prevent the sudden craving for sweets at later hours.

The study examined 193 overweight people who were divided into two groups - the first group received a 300-calorie meal that included a low carbohydrate rate, but ate a carbohydrate-rich meal in the evening as compensation, while the second group enjoyed a 600-calorie breakfast, which also includes chocolate cake for dessert, and a meal Poorer in the evening.

Eventually members of both groups consumed the same amount of calories throughout the day.
