(ANSA) - NEW YORK, JUNE 29 - 'Changing the water to flowers (Changer l'eau des fleurs)' by the French writer Valerie Perrin, published in Italy by and / or, becomes a television series.

The adaptation of the 2018 novel, bestseller both in Italy and in France, will be produced by the Italian Palomar. Variety announces it as an exclusive.

The plot revolves around Violette Toussaint, the beautiful guardian of the cemetery of a town in Burgundy in France. One day, a policeman from Marseille comes up with an unusual request: his mother, before dying, expressed the desire that his ashes be scattered in a distant town near the tomb of a local stranger. Then events take an unexpected turn.

According to what Perrin herself, wife of director Claude Lelouch explained to Variety, the rights were transferred to Carlo Degli Esposti's Palomar "because he is Italian and because he is really in love with Violette Trenet, married to Toussaint". "These are the two reasons for my choice: Italy and love. And often good reasons lead to improvements. We owe the best to Violette and I am sure this project will be magnificent and up to the book", added Perrin. The writer will be involved in the adaptation: "I will never let this character completely go or be very far from her."

Degli Esposti stressed that Palomar "immediately recognized all the elements that can transform a great book into a great adaptation". "Working with an author like Valerie is a great pleasure and a great challenge. Her Violette is an extraordinary female character, something we have been looking for for a long time," said the producer. (HANDLE).
