(ANSA) - BOGOTA, June 29 - The Colombian NGOs Indepaz and Temblores presented, on the occasion of the two-month anniversary of anti-government demonstrations in Colombia, a report in which they claim that the deaths in the incidents that occurred throughout the national for 44 of them the responsibility presumably lies with the police.
According to the report of the two NGOs, the third since the mobilization started on 28 April, in the past 60 days there have been 1,832 cases of arbitrary detentions, 83 victims of ocular violence, 1,468 cases of physical violence and 28 victims of sexual violence, for a total general of 3,486 cases of police violence.
As for the dead people, explains Indpeaz in his portal, there were two fatal victims of female and 73 male sex. From a territorial point of view, the city of Cali has alone accused a little less than 2/3 of the dead (43), followed by Bogota (6).
The document underlines that "the responsibility of the members of the public force has to do with manifestly irregular actions, such as omissions and complicity, which must be investigated by both national and international control bodies".
Similarly, the NGOs issue an alert for "the arbitrary and disproportionate use of force by the police, which systematically violates the right to protest and, at the same time,it violates a series of rights sanctioned by the Constitution and by existing rules of respect for human rights ".
Finally, the organizations recommended, among other things, the Colombian state to "completely dismantle the Mobilization-Riot Squad (Esmad), taking into account the actions of violation of multiple rights that it committed during the protests".
