(ANSA) - MATERA, JUN 29 - Foreign Minister Luigi DiMaio welcomes the 32 participants in the G20 Foreign and Development G20 at Palazzo Lanfranchi in Matera.
The representatives of the individual countries, the UN and the EU will all be in attendance, except for the Chinese, Brazilian and Australian ministers who will connect by videoconference.
Russia and South Korea have instead decided to send their own foreign ministers.
On the agenda, the relaunch of multilateralism to address global challenges and ample space for Africa, with an in-depth analysis of policies for the inclusion of young women and women, trade, energy transition. Food security will be part of the joint Foreign and Development session held for the first time in a G20 ministerial, which wants to relaunch the "zero hunger" goal by 2030. The leaders of FAO, IFAD and WFP will also participate in this meeting.
In the afternoon there will be a working session dedicated to the financing of sustainable development which will be attended by the Ministers of Development and will be chaired by the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Marina Sereni.
Di Maio will hold a final press conference at 6.20 pm.
