(ANSA) - ROME, JUN 29 - VATICAN CITY, JUN 29 - "Only a free Church is a credible Church".

Thus the Pope on the feast of Saints Peter and Paul.

"We are called to be free from the sense of defeat in the face of our sometimes unsuccessful fishing; to be free from the fear that immobilizes us and makes us fearful", he said at Mass.

"We are called to be free from the hypocrisy of exteriority; to be free from the temptation to impose ourselves with the strength of the world rather than with the weakness that makes room for God; free from a religious observation that makes us rigid and inflexible; free from shady bonds with power and fear of being misunderstood and attacked ".
