After receiving no less than 370 applications, the competition for the best burger in France 2021 saw its 25 best candidates challenge each other this Monday in Paris at La Fabrique Événementielle (10th arrondissement) with the imposed theme, “Back to the sources”. For several years, the burger has been displayed everywhere, in all sauces and even on the menus of the greatest starred restaurants. No wonder then to see a starred chef come and decide on the best burger in France. Former candidate and winner of Season 11 of Top Chef, David Gallienne also has a burger on his menu. “It's a cheap, easy-to-cook dish that everyone likes. It can be declined in so many ways that it has become a must have, ”he emphasizes. After a long day to decide between the 25 candidates, who came from all over France, five major finalists were selected to compete in the final stage of this Coupe de France, with a check for 2,500 euros.

After a long deliberation, two candidates were awarded the Coupe de France ex aequo for their burgers inspired by their region.
The baker, Stéphane Giroud, from Montbrison (42), for his “Cafi Ligérien” burger, inspired by local products from the Loire such as Patia, a specialty from the Forez mountains, mixed with andouille de Charlieu cooked in wine, on a steak prepared in parsley.
And Joannes Richard, chef and manager of a restaurant in Nîmes, with his “Nemausus”, a combination of the original burger and its terroir of Gard.
