Netflix Germany is shooting another in-house production: »Kleo« is an eight-part action series about a GDR spy in Berlin at the time of the fall of the Berlin Wall.
The agent is played by Jella Haase, who is known from "Fack U Göthe".
The first scenes are already being filmed in Berlin and Mallorca, and the series is scheduled to go online in 2022.
The plot begins in 1987. Top spy Kleo liquidates a businessman on behalf of a secret Stasi commando, but is arrested by the Stasi shortly afterwards.
After two years in prison, the wall suddenly falls.
Kleo is released, recognizes a great intrigue and embarks on a campaign of revenge through an anarchic Berlin.
The script comes from Elena Senft and the team of authors Hanno Hackfort, Richard Krop and Bob Konrad, who also write the successful series »4 Blocks«.
They wanted to tell a story from the "exciting time of upheaval in Berlin at the end of the 1980s with a certain punch," according to the authors.
The pictures would be "based on the world of comics".

Amazon Studios is also filming another German material.
Sebastian Fitzek's novel »The Therapy« was developed as a six-part series and should also be available in 240 countries in 2022.
Fitzek's debut novel follows the fate of a psychiatrist who, years after her disappearance, has to grapple with the loss of his daughter, who has been missing for years.
At the beginning of the year Amazon announced a cooperation between the author Fitzek, Ziegler Film and the streaming provider.
"The Therapy" is produced by Regina Ziegler ("Weissensee") and Barbara Thielen, who already filmed Fitzek's novel "Passenger 23".
