An allergic reaction is often the cause of irritated mucous membranes.
Mold allergies can trigger allergic conjunctivitis.
In many places in Germany, high concentrations of mold spores are currently measured in the air, as the German Pollen Information Service (PID) informs. The allergy-triggering spore types Cladosporium and increasingly also Alternaria would on sunny days in more and more places exceed the stimulus threshold from which symptoms are accepted in mold allergy sufferers, according to the PID newsletter.
As the grain harvest is about to begin, the concentrations could reach very high values on a daily basis.
The nasty thing about the mold allergy: It is a year-round allergy.
This occurs through contact and / or inhalation of airborne substances (e.g. house dust), which are present all year round, reports the specialist portal MSD Manuals.
It
is not uncommon for people to be allergic to mold:
They are among the allergens that most frequently trigger allergic reactions, according to MSD Manuals.
Mold Allergy: What Symptoms Are Possible?

There are types of mold that are mainly found indoors and those that can be found outdoors, it said.
They can all cause allergic complaints.
These include:
Allergic conjunctivitis (rhinoconjunctivitis)
with red, very itchy and burning eyes;
Rubbing often leads to puffy lids;
often sticky discharge
Allergic bronchial asthma
Allergic runny nose (rhinitis)
Neurodermatitis (atopic eczema)
chronic sinus infection
Treat mold allergy
Your attending doctor will inform you about possible therapies.
These primarily include desensitization and drug treatment of a mold allergy (e.g. with antimycotics).
Remedial measures that
eliminate
or at least contain
the
moisture and thus the growth of mold in interiors
would have a positive effect, according to the allergy information service.
