Government spokesman Gabriel Attal affirms this Thursday that this obligation, if taken, requires "a time between the two

To convince caregivers to all get vaccinated, the government could announce before September that it makes the Covid vaccine mandatory for them, government spokesman Gabriel Attal said this Thursday morning.

Tuesday, the Minister of Health had reiterated that the government "gives (is) until September" to decide or not a compulsory vaccination, a measure which passes by a law.

But Olivier Véran first wanted to convince them to do this to protect themselves.

So he explained on France Info that in the Landes, a department where the delta variant is rife, six nursing home care workers had been infected with the virus, including "five who were not vaccinated".

" Everything is possible "

The speech is bearing fruit, vaccinations have started to rise again in the face of "the increase in the delta variant and the risk of a fourth wave", explained Gabriel Attal on Thursday.

"When you are a caregiver and when working in particular in an nursing home, in contact with people who are particularly fragile, I think we have a particular responsibility to be vaccinated," he added.

"Today that is really what we are asking them".

Jean Castex announced Wednesday that he would launch "in the coming days" a consultation with associations of local elected officials and the presidents of parliamentary groups around the compulsory vaccination of caregivers.

This consultation will also allow "to address the question of the calendar", according to Attal.

“On the calendar there is absolutely nothing fixed, and I think anything is possible,” he added.

But the announcement could be made before the fateful month. Everything is possible "in September" so that people can be vaccinated "at the right time, since" there must be a time between the two doses ".

"Since the start of the vaccination campaign, we have chosen trust rather than coercion and it has worked rather very well," however, took care to specify the Secretary of State.
