The Ministry of Health convened this Thursday researchers from the provinces of
Buenos Aires, San Luis and Córdoba, and the city of Buenos Aires
, to begin a study on the combination of two different vaccines against the coronavirus.

, it is one of the points discussed yesterday at the meeting of specialists from the National Immunization Commission (CoNaIn).
The objective of the research will be to analyze the
immunogenicity and safety
of the use of different vaccines in the same scheme and their response to the variants of the SARS-CoV-2 virus.
"We make this call to be able to count on all possible views and a joint collaborative project to give a scientific, solid response and transmit tranquility to the population at a time of great uncertainty", said the Minister of Health of the Nation, Carla Vizzotti, in the first meeting with researchers to design the research and start the study in the next few weeks.

This Tuesday 350,000 Russian vaccines of the second dose arrived from Russia, which would cover a good part of the 400,000 people who this week are completing the three months indicated since the application of the first.
But those vaccinated with a "met" second dose term will be added in the following days, since the imbalance with the delivery of component 2 with respect to component 1 is far from stabilizing.
Combinations
As announced by the health portfolio, the multicenter study will be carried out based on the combination of the vaccines available in Argentina -Sputnik V, Sinopharm and AstraZeneca, while waiting for the arrival of Cansino- with a
collaborative design
that allows the participation of researchers from all interested jurisdictions.
"We have to generate
our own evidence
, evaluate immunogenicity, safety and observe if in the heterologous schemes there are better results with the variants in terms of the quality of the responses," explained the Undersecretary of Health Strategies, Manuel Castelli.
Argentina has received 25 million vaccines against the coronavirus so far.

The study will also aim to evaluate the results of the schemes applied to have information and to evaluate in the future if it is necessary to
apply reinforcements and to analyze the prolongation of protection

The researchers expressed their willingness to move forward as soon as possible given the need for specific studies based on the vaccines applied in the country, the epidemiological situation and the variants that are circulating.
They also proposed to analyze the immune response of people who had COVID-19 and who already have a dose of vaccine against that disease.
Researchers from the National Council for Scientific and Technical Research (CONICET) participated in this first meeting, Guillermo Docena, Andrea Gamarnik and Jorge Geffner;
the Chief of Advisors of the Ministry of Health of the Province of Buenos Aires, Enio García;
the Secretary for Health Promotion and Prevention of Córdoba, Gabriela Barbás;
the coordinator of the Ministry of Health of San Luis, Rosa Dávila;
the Secretary of Access to Health of the national health portfolio, Sandra Tirado, and the national director of Epidemiology, Analía Rearte.
