He was tirelessly going back and forth between certain beaches in Binic (Côtes-d'Armor) and the Lantic plant's composting platform, when he suddenly suffered a cardiac arrest.

Twelve years after his death in 2009, justice looked again Thursday, July 1 on the death of Thierry Morfoisse.

For his family, this transporter was struck down by the fumes of hydrogen sulphide (H2S) from the decaying green algae that he carried on a daily basis.

A support committee made up of associations for the defense of the environment and anti-green algae and of committed citizens supported, this Thursday, July 1, the Morfoisse family, during the hearing at the Social Affairs Court of Saint-Brieuc. On June 16, 2018, this same court recognized the death of this driver as a work accident. Except that the employer, the company Nicol Environnement, represented by Me Thomas Humbert, declines all responsibility.

Justice must now render a last judgment, very symbolic at the heart of this health scandal which has ravaged the Breton coasts for decades.

“We have always had non-places, but rarely judgments handed down at the end of real hearings,” explains Yves-Marie Le Lay, president of the Safeguarding association of Trégor Goëlo Penthièvre.

"Our lawyer, Me François Lafforgue, delivered an implacable plea and brought in specialists such as Doctor Claude Lesné (CNRS) to take up the facts as scientific facts".

The deliberation is expected on October 14.

This legal moment, crucial in the Morfoisse affair, will be important in the context of another ongoing case, that of the death of Jean-René Auffray, struck down in the middle of a mudflat stuffed with green algae in decomposition, in Hillion (Côtes-d'Armor), while he was jogging, September 8, 2016.
