Mattarella, in the pandemic the inequality between the sexes has seriously emerged

"The 585 'golden apples' delivered in 33 years are not only a beautiful story but on the one hand express more than the claim of an authentic condition of equality, the awareness that effective equality between the sexes makes our country grow and it determines social and economic growth. And they underline how strong growth in the role of women is underway, even if there are still disparities and conditions to be removed, which emerged even more serious during the pandemic ". This was stated by the President of the Republic

in the ceremony at the Quirinale with the winners of the XXXIII edition of the Marisa Bellisario Prize. 

"The weight of the consequences of the pandemic - explained Mattarella during a ceremony at the Quirinale - weighed on everyone but the cost paid by women was particularly high. Yet during the pandemic the role of women in fighting the virus was particularly strong and intense" .

Hence the need for the Head of State to "underline and remember that effective equality is a fundamental objective of the Republic, that the value of the principle of equality is placed in art. 3 of the Constitution not for a mere enunciation but in the belief that equality is a fundamental condition for the growth of our society and the realization of the values ​​of the Constitution in every respect. The emphasis on the need for equality will never be sufficiently remembered and reaffirmed. I hope that there is no resistance to the conquest of spaces but that Institutions guarantee reasonably wide and practicable routes to reach them ", concludes Mattarella.
