(ANSA) - FLORENCE, 01 JUL - "Daniele Gatti will be the principal director of the Teatro del Maggio Musicale Fiorentino for the next three years". Superintendent Alexander Pereira announced this on the occasion of the presentation of the next symphonic lyric season 2021/2022. This decision, added Pereira, "in no way diminishes our plans and our ideas with maestro Zubin Mehta, who will make an equal number of productions and appearances. A theater can have two such important personalities for the next few years, it is a very important asset".
The honorary director for life of the Florentine Maggio Musicale, Zubin Mehta, will stand on the podium 30 times during the 2021-2022 lyric symphonic season of the Florentine theater, scheduled from 30 August to 9 April 2022. Mehta will be on the stage of Maggio for 22 performances, for four operas, and eight concerts.
With him in the opera season John Eliot Gardiner, Diego Fasolis, Riccardo Frizza, Michele Gamba, Francesco Ivan Ciampa. The Maggio theater in Florence will host grand orchestra in the 2021-2022 season, including Mozart conducted by Daniele Gatti, the orchestra of the Mariinsky theater in St. Petersburg, the orchestral Montecarlo and the Cherubini conducted by Riccardo Muti. From 30 August to 9 April 2022 nine operas will be on the bill (all new productions, never seen before, only two in streaming) and 13 concerts. (HANDLE).
