Tasca d'Almerita is among the 24 wineries in the world and the 3 Italian ones to receive the "Robert Parker Green Emblem 2021", an award given by one of the most important critics of the international wine world, whose signature in Italy is Monica Larner. The first Sicilian winery that, according to Robert Parker, has shown extraordinary efforts in the search for virtuous agricultural and oenological practices in long-term environmental protection and biodiversity protection.

If today talking about sustainability is on the agenda, in 2009, when Tasca d'Almerita decided to create the foundations for the development of SOStain - the first sustainability program for Sicilian viticulture - it was not like that.

"Everything stems from the need to acquire awareness through measurement - explains Alberto Tasca, CEO of the company -, that is to know exactly what effect every action we take in the vineyard, in the cellar and in and in general throughout the organization has. The program goes beyond the aspects strictly related to wine production and also looks at the complexity of the socio-cultural repercussions on the territory: such as the well-being of workers, the health of consumers, the enhancement of the surrounding area and the conservation of natural resources ". Tasca says he is thrilled to have received this recognition, the result of hard work and commitment. "In Sicily - he underlines -, thanks also to the work of the SOStain Foundation and the producers who are part of it,we are witnessing a real cultural revolution: we have given ourselves clear rules to measure our level of sustainability, we have learned to replace "I" with "we" by working on the common good as a multiplier of collective well-being, while maintaining identity very different ".

"We are aware of the growing desire for responsible and environmentally committed viticulture. In the Robert Parker Wine Advocate team, we share this vision, which is why we have decided to develop the" Robert Parker Green Emblem "to highlight the wineries that combine richness of taste and sustainable viticulture ", explains Nicolas Achard, CEO of Robert Parker Wine Advocate.

In conjunction with the award, Tasca d'Almerita arrives at the presentation of its 10th edition of the annual sustainability report. The document photographs the data collected in 2020, showing the improvements generated over the years and offers not only a picture of the company reality, but also an insight into the situation in Sicily, as its five estates are located in the most suitable areas of the Region: Tenuta Regaleali, in the heart of Sicily, Tenuta Tascante on the slopes of Etna, Tenuta Capofaro on the island of Salina, Tenuta Whitaker in Mozia and Tenuta Sallier de La Tour in Monreale.
