The summer sales are starting, from today in Sicily and from 3 July in almost all of Italy. Last to leave Puglia on July 24 and Basilicata on August 2. Bargain hunt for consumers and hopes of recovery for retailers, who are hoping for a strong push in consumption after the restrictions imposed by the pandemic. According to estimates by the Confcommercio Research Department, this year each family will spend an average of 171 euros - equal to 74 euros per capita - for a total value of 2.6 billion euros for the purchase of discounted items. Codacons consumers expect discount percentages "immediately very high" and sales up by 15-20% compared to last year, but "below the pre-Covid values".

"After the annus horribilis, the hope is that the shopping rush will resume. There is a great desire for freedom and a return to a new normality", comments Renato Borghi, president of the Italy-Confcommercio Fashion Federation. "For these balances - explains Borghi - we expect consumption to increase compared to last year but, above all, a confirmation of the trend of purchases in proximity stores, after the forced use of purchases on the web". In this sense, Confcommercio expects from the Government "a strong stance", already in the next meeting of the Finance Ministers and Governors of the Central Banks of the G20 in Venice, for the introduction of a minimum global tax on the revenues of the giants of the web in the countries where they operate, such as "fundamental solution to rebalance the balance of power in a market that cannot remain without rules ".

It is always good to remember the golden rules for buying safely. 1. Changes: at the merchant's discretion, but the obligation is triggered if the item is damaged or non-compliant. 2. Trial of the garments: there is no obligation. 3. Payments: Credit cards must be accepted. 4. Products for sale: the items on sale are seasonal. 5. Indication of the price: the original one, the discount and the final price. 6. Respect for distances. 7. Hand disinfection. 8. Masks. 9. Tailoring changes: these are the responsibility of the customer. 10. Maximum number of customers in the store: with display in the window of a sign with the maximum number.
