And which ones are paid well on top of that?
A job portal has identified the best jobs for home.
Since July 1, employees in Germany are no longer required to work from home. But after about one and a half years of Corona and working from home, it is hardly imaginable for many employees to return completely to the office and commute every day. Against this background, the job site Indeed has determined for which professions the
option for home office was
offered
most frequently
in job advertisements
from May 2020 to April 2021
. It can be assumed that in these jobs it will also be possible in the future to work from within your own four walls. At the top of the ranking are
professions from the tech sector
- the clear number one is the “senior software developer”.
For the ranking, jobs with an average gross salary of 50,000 euros or more were taken into account.

The jobs with the highest quota for working from home
Senior software developers
have the largest share of teleworking in job postings
: 84 percent of all Indeed ads for this position include an option to work from home.
The average earning potential for this job is 66,000 euros per year.
In second place is the job title of
“HR Business Partner”
with a home office rate of 81 percent and an average annual salary of 59,000 euros.
The top five complete further jobs in the software and IT sector:
“Network
Specialist
”
(75 percent),
“Senior Java Software

(74 percent) and with a home office rate of 71 percent each “
DevOps” and “System Engineers ”

In terms of salary, the “system engineer” comes off worst with an annual rate of 52,000 euros - the “network specialists” and “DevOps engineers” earn significantly more with 64,000 euros, a “senior software developer Java” even 69,000 euros per year.

Best-paid jobs with home office options
With an average annual salary of 94,000 euros and a home office share of 58 percent, the job title of
“Solution Architects” leads the ranking of the best-paid jobs with the option of working from home
.
Job advertisements for “Head of Sales” promise 53 percent mobile working and an average annual salary of 77,000 euros.
Third place went to “SAP Developers” with a salary of 75,000 euros and 67 percent teleworking.
Overall, about every hundredth job search on Indeed is related to the keyword “home office”.
This proportion has almost doubled in the past two years.
The proportion of jobs with the home office option is ten percent across all job advertisements on Indeed.
“Working from home will remain an important criterion for job seekers even after the pandemic. This shows the unchecked demand for jobs that can also be carried out from home, ”comments Frank Hensgens, Managing Director Indeed DACH. “However, there are jobs that are easier to do from home than others.
