The spirit will be that of a party, and not just for the admission ticket at the symbolic cost of one euro: because this year the European Night of Museums on Saturday 3 July will be an opportunity for beauty to be shared in the presence, respecting the safety measures as is obvious, but finally together. Promoted by the Ministry of Culture with the patronage of Unesco, the Council of Europe and Icom, the event returns after two years of absence in this 2021 edition, the XVII, as an emblem of a new beginning and redemption for cultural places and institutions who have kept their doors closed during the long months of the pandemic: to respond to the call of the ministry as always they have been en masse, throughout the Italian territory, with adhesions from state museums from North to South.

The appointment is therefore for Saturday evening, with extraordinary openings from 7 pm to 10 pm and in some cases at 11 pm and ad hoc events (on social networks the official hashtags are #museitaliani, # NDM21 and #NottedeiMusei). The Uffizi could not be missing from the list of museums participating in the initiative: the Gallery therefore returns to its "by night" version, an opportunity, says director Eike Schmidt, "to enjoy the museum's masterpieces in a different light, more intimate, that of sunset and evening ". The Bargello National Museum also joins with the exhibition dedicated to the Supreme Poet "Honorable and ancient citizen of Florence. The Bargello for Dante", and the same will be done by the Accademia Gallery, where the public can admire the new exhibition itinerary, which starts from the section dedicated to Musical Instruments now connected directly, through a new passage, to the rooms of the temporary exhibitions. In Rome to celebrate the return to normality through the most natural and precious gestures of our "human being", such as kisses and hugs, conversations and walks, will be "The show of life - Life is a show", the installation of thirteen sculptures by the artist Pietro Guida with which Castel Sant'Angelo participates in the Night of the Museums. Doors open also to the Quirinale Stables with the exhibition "Tota Italia. At the origins of a Nation", while at the Terme di Caracalla the Night of the Museums will be the occasion to inaugurate the cycle of evening openings scheduled for the summer. Participations also by the Royal Palace of Naples,Museum and Real Bosco di Capodimonte, Royal Palace of Caserta and Pompeii Archaeological Park. In Milan, in addition to the extraordinary evening opening of the Museo del Cenacolo Vinciano, the Pinacoteca di Brera in Milan will also unveil its collection in a fascinating nocturnal atmosphere, with refurbished rooms, new lighting and new captions of the works. In Vicenza the splendid Villa Valmarana ai Nani will open organizing visits dedicated to three different focuses, aimed at illustrating particular aspects of the painting of Giambattista and Giandomenico Tiepolo, which in these environments has reached its highest peaks. Also in Vicenza, as well as in Milan and Naples, the Intesa Sanpaolo Galleries of Italy will participate with the exhibitions "Seeing the invisible" at Palazzo Leoni Montanari, "Painting is back. Eighties, painting in Italy "in the Milanese headquarters in Piazza Scala and" Los Angeles. (State of Mind) "at Palazzo Zevallos Stigliano.

Participation also by the circuit of the Civic Museums of Venice, from Palazzo Ducale to Ca 'Pesaro and Ca' Rezzonico. The diocese of Nola will open the rooms of the Cippus Abellanus antiquarium and the historical library of the Episcopal Seminary, with guided tours starting at 8 pm. On the Night of the Museums, "Co-dwellings" will also be inaugurated, the exhibition that links four Cosenza museum institutions, the National Gallery, the Brettii and Enotri Civic Museum, the BoCs Museum and the Consentia itinera Museum. Party until 11pm at the National Archaeological Museum of Cagliari, where a Roman terracotta figurine depicting Venus with a dolphin from ancient Nora will be "Protagonist for an evening".
