The first 800 thousand vaccines from Sinopharm, out of a total of 24 million that the Argentine Government acquired from China,

will arrive this Sunday afternoon

from Beijing on an Aerolineas Argentinas plane, within the framework of an operation that will involve the daily arrival of flights throughout the week to combat the advance of the coronavirus.

The Airbus 330-200, which took off from the Ezeiza international airport last Friday, is expected to land on Argentine soil around 7:00 p.m., with the first shipment of

800 thousand doses

.

From Wednesday 7, meanwhile, successive flights will begin to take off daily until Thursday 15.

The returns of these flights are scheduled every day

between Friday 9 and Saturday 17

, the date on which the last of this first stage will arrive, completing at that time the first

eight million doses of

Sinopharm

vaccines

purchased in China.

Argentina closed an agreement to receive 24 million doses of Sinopharm between July and September.

This diagram is part of the new agreement that Argentina signed with the Chinese laboratory to purchase another 24 million vaccines.

Then it is planned to receive 8 million in August and the same amount in September.

So far, the country received 6 million of this brand.

While awaiting the arrival of this large flow of doses, the country is beginning to evaluate the possibility of combining different vaccines to compensate for the low availability of component 2 of Sputnik V.

The issue was discussed on Wednesday at the meeting of the National Immunization Commission (CoNaIn), while the City of Buenos Aires will carry out its own investigation to analyze with which Covid-19 vaccine Sputnik V can be combined.

According to a survey carried out by the Ministry of Health, which was presented at the CoNaIn meeting, of the three vaccines that are being applied in Argentina, Sinopharm is the one with the least effectiveness.

Thus, after the application of the first dose Sputnik V achieved an effectiveness of 74%, AstraZeneca reached 79.5% and

Sinopharm was 61.6%

.

With the complete immunization schedule - that is, with the two injections - the effectiveness rose to 93.3% with Sputnik V, 88.8% with AstraZeneca and 84% with Sinopharm.

So far, a total of 26,847,730 doses have arrived in the country, of which 11,265,830 correspond to Sputnik V (9,375,670 from component 1 and 1,890,160 from component 2), six million from Sinopharm;

580,000 to AstraZeneca-Covishield, 1,944,000 to AstraZeneca through the COVAX mechanism of the WHO, and 7,057,900 to those of AstraZeneca and Oxford whose active principle was produced in Argentina.
