"It feels good and it re-motivates us": life starts again for caregivers at Solidays

2021-07-05T00:59:55.252Z

WE WERE THERE - Sunday, the Solidarité Sida festival was back at the Longchamp racecourse, for a day reserved for students and medical professionals.

You were expected to be less than 10,000, and in the end, you were over 12,000. Result, you have to wait more than 40 minutes to buy a beer!

", Laughs Luc Barruet, director of the Solidays festival, which took place this Sunday in the Longchamp racecourse in Paris. Despite the capricious weather, the participants, drawn at random after registering at the end of June, are there for this special mini-edition reserved for caregivers to “

say thank you

”. One of the first major events of the summer, subject to the health pass and without compulsory mask.

Barely noon, the opening time of the festival, that the first motivated are already rushing to be in the front row. As in previous years, a free shuttle takes festival-goers to the racecourse. After ten minutes of crossing in an already festive atmosphere, that's it: the red and white capitals emerge, and the bass echo in the distance. “

Welcome to Solidays!

», Say the volunteers at the exit of the bus. A bottle of hydroalcoholic gel is distributed to everyone, and of course, the health pass is scrupulously checked. Once the entry bracelet has been retrieved, the two scenes finally appear, at the bottom of the large expanse of green grass at the racecourse.

After a first concert by Pipoh and Billet humor, it's the turn of the Jahneration duo to take their place, a mix between reggae and hip-hop. “

Today in the public, there are bac +1, +3, +8, much more than us in any case!

»Laugh the two Parisian singers, in front of a crowd which does not cease increasing. 47 Ter, the rap and hip-hop group, then takes the stage, with their very apt title, “

What are we waiting for to live

”. And despite a new shower of rain in the middle of their show, the festival-goers are not discouraged and continue to dance to the rhythm of the music. Camille and Mégane, 23-year-old medical students, enthusiastically follow the concert: “

It's really nice to be able to come here, it's nice for all those who were underwater for a year

”, explain the young girls, who come for the first time to Solidays.

And no worries about the pandemic: "

There is the health pass and we are vaccinated, so we really do not worry about it

", they confide.

"

We no longer want to fight, to relive what we have lived

"

Same observation for Robin and Juliette, both interns in the Paris region: “

The caregivers are generally a segment of the population rather well vaccinated, so that reduces the risk for the festival. And then, the situation has stabilized, so it would be a shame to do without

, ”confided the two friends who came to Solidays in order to change their minds after the medical competition. Mona, who waits patiently in the long line for refueling, is a nurse. If the young woman is grateful for the Solidays gesture, she admits to being a little skeptical: "

It's a cute gesture. But I'm a little dubious, we had applause every night, and then it subsided. I would like that one does not dedicate to us only one event, but that there are significant changes in our daily newspaper, for example on the working conditions

”, explains the young woman.

The concerts continue their course, and comes the turn of Amadou and Mariam, the couple of Malian musicians and singers, crowned in 2005 at the Victoires de la Musique. Caroline, a nurse who came especially for Reims for the occasion, readily admits that finding the atmosphere of festivals “

feels good. It inspires!

», Exclaims the 30-something. Margot, also a nurse, appreciates this return to normalcy, hoping that this time, “

this will be the end of the crisis. We no longer want to fight, to relive what we have lived. I want cultural life to resume, but I hope people will get vaccinated. It's a collective effort, it's the only way out,

”says the young woman. Coming for the first time to Solidays, she likes the committed side of the event, "

which defends another very important health cause

”.

"It's time to let go of the ballast"

Deluxe, the French electro group, Hervé and Yael Naïm follow one another and delight festival-goers, while others try their hand at stronger sensations. In a corner of the racetrack, a crane several meters high is the object of all the envy: solo or in duo, the volunteers can try their hand at a baptism of bungee jumping. Dorian, 20, in second year of medicine, will try the attraction "

to mark the occasion

". Coming from Lyon for the festival, he is taking advantage like the others of this return to normal: “

It's time to let go of the ballast to take advantage of the summer. In any case, people would not respect if they took new restrictive measures now,

”analyzes the young man.

After yet another return of the rain, transforming the racecourse into a field of mud, the public enthusiastically welcomes Suzane, crowned with the victories of music in 2020, then the rapper Youssoupha, who has been talked about a lot recently with his hymn for the euro.

He does not hide his stress to go back on stage afterwards, "

but if I fall for it, I know that there will necessarily be someone to heal me

", jokes the singer.

After his very well received performance, it is then the turn of rapper Soso Maness and the German techno band Meute to set the mood. M, a regular at Solidays, will close this day, which "

the results are very successful

", considering the fact that the festival "

was done hard

", confides Luc Barruet. “

The decision was taken on May 20, in pain, but we are delighted. Our only disappointment is the difficulties we had with the health pass. We hoped that it would be easier especially coming from the caregivers, but that was not the case

”, he regretted in front of the press. The Minister of Health, Olivier Véran, came at the end of the evening to applaud “

this very beautiful operation

”, “

thanking the work done during this year

”and recalling the importance of the actions carried out by Solidarité Sida. The Minister took the opportunity to remind everyone of the importance of getting vaccinated. "

Today we are celebrating at Solidays, tomorrow we get vaccinated

", he hammered.
