Can a fourth wave of Covid-19, because of the more contagious Delta variant, "come and spoil the summer", as Olivier Véran warned last week?

The latest epidemic figures, released on Monday, show an epidemic that remains at a low level, but declining less.

Hospitals had 7,806 hospitalized patients on Monday due to a Covid-19 infection (compared to 7,913 on Sunday, 8,846 a week ago).

Among them, 1,077 people are in critical care services, 27 less compared to Sunday (1,104).

There were 1,304 seven days ago.

137 new patients to the hospital in 24 hours

On the admissions front, 137 new patients returned to hospital in the past 24 hours (41 Sunday, 176 last Monday) and 30 in critical care wards (12 Sunday, 41 seven days ago), on the same period.

36 new deaths are to be deplored in the last 24 hours at the hospital.

Over the same period, there were 9 the day before and 44 seven days ago.

In all, 84,724 patients have died in hospital since the start of the epidemic.

796 new contaminations have been identified in the past 24 hours, according to figures from Public Health France.

This figure should be taken with a grain of salt since it includes Sunday, where less testing is done.

There were, seven days ago, 509.

Vaccination continues.

Since the start of the vaccination campaign in France, 34,701,785 people have received at least one injection (i.e. 51.5% of the total population) and 24,851,829 people now have a complete vaccination schedule

(36.9% of the total population), reveals this Monday the Directorate General of Health.
