(ANSA) - MADRID, 05 JUL - The provincial court of Madrid has rejected the request of the prosecutor to consider as a possible hate crime the use by the ultradestraVox party of an electoral poster with a slogan against minor immigrants arriving in Spain without adult companions. They are brought back by the Iberian media.

The manifesto displayed by Vox presented a message in which it was argued that public spending on migrant children was higher than that earmarked for the pensions of elderly people. Several media outlets verified that the content of the slogan was incorrect.

The judges who have analyzed the case consider the message of the far-right party legitimate, as expressed in the context of an "electoral contest" and with no proven intention to pursue "illicit purposes". The judicial resolution was published by El País.

The electoral manifesto in question had been displayed in the Spanish capital in view of the regional elections of Madrid, held on 4 May. The Madrid prosecutor had asked them to be withdrawn as a precautionary measure, on the suspicion that the slogans expressed represented a "hate crime". The judge called into question at the time had rejected the request, a decision now endorsed by the Madrid provincial court, which is of higher rank, with the rejection of the appeal presented by the prosecutor and supported by the Socialist Party. According to what the Cadena Ser radio explains, there are, however, other appeals related to this story still in the judicial phase. (HANDLE).
