Hof in Bavaria: Polish bus driver killed in knife attack

Shortly after midnight, a bus driver from Poland apparently wanted to settle a dispute between passengers and a 43-year-old on the station forecourt in Hof. The man then stabbed the bus driver.

A 63-year-old bus driver from Poland was killed in a knife attack in Hof early Tuesday morning.

According to previous knowledge, a group of travelers who were traveling with two buses from Poland were waiting shortly after midnight on the Hofer Bahnhofsvorplatz.

According to the police, there was an argument with a 43-year-old who was nearby.

The man first attacked one of the passengers and slightly injured him.

When the bus driver intervened, the 43-year-old stabbed him with a pocket knife and fatally injured him.

The alleged perpetrator then tried to flee on foot, but according to the police, he was caught by arriving patrolmen.

Although the travelers immediately alerted the emergency doctor, any help came too late for the bus driver.

According to the police, the alleged perpetrator comes from Saxony.

The background to the crime has not yet been clarified, the public prosecutor is investigating.
