A small drawing by Leonardo da Vinci
depicting the head of a bear
will be offered today to the highest bidder by the London auction house Christie's and, according to forecasts, could be sold for up to 12 million pounds, about 14 million euros.
The BBC reports it.
Entitled 'Head of a Bear', the work - which
measures just seven centimeters by seven
- was created more than 500 years ago and could thus exceed the record of 8.1 million pounds paid in 2001 for another drawing of the artist, 'Horse and rider'.
The drawing offered online today by Christie's belonged to the painter and collector Sir Thomas Lawrence, who sold it in 1860 - again through the London auction house - for 2.5 pounds.
In 2017 the oil painting on board
'Salvator mundi'
, attributed to Leonardo da Vinci, was sold in New York for a record 450 million dollars (about 381 million euros), the highest price ever paid to a ' auction for a work of art.
