This is a new step in the thorny issue of compulsory vaccination of health personnel.
Asked this Thursday morning on Europe 1, Élisabeth Borne announced that she would tackle “tomorrow the issue with trade unions and employers”, while consultations at the top of the executive continue.
In the event of compulsory vaccination, what would happen to a public or private caregiver who refuses to be vaccinated?
"There are compulsory vaccinations for nursing staff," she recalled, citing vaccines against tetanus or hepatitis B.
“When we have a vaccination obligation and we do not respect it, it is a fault;
that can lead to disciplinary sanctions up to dismissal, ”recalled the Minister of Labor, taking the example of vaccines against tetanus or hepatitis B, already mandatory.
She was clear on disciplinary sanctions, a subject which "is one of the subjects that must be discussed with employers' and union organizations tomorrow".
The Head of State will chair an exceptional Health Defense Council on Monday with the objective of setting the government line on the vaccination obligation for caregivers.
