Today, the fourth virtual regional meeting on the Education 2030 Agenda, organized by the UNESCO Regional Office for Education in the Arab States, concluded in Beirut on the fourth sustainable development goal to ensure equitable and inclusive quality education for all and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all.

Through the Zoom platform, the participants discussed the important issues that should be focused on in the remaining years, which include the regional action plan to advance towards achieving the education agenda until 2030, how to accelerate work to make progress in the next decade, as well as reporting by rapporteurs and the meeting conclusion.

In his intervention on the platform, the Assistant Minister of Education and National Coordinator for the Fourth Sustainable Development Goal, Dr. Abdul Hakim Al-Hammad, confirmed that the health situation and the spread of the Corona pandemic did not affect achieving the required quality and did not reduce the reference index, explaining that the Ministry of Education seeks to achieve ambitious goals and keep pace with global developments and achieve Fourth goal.

The meeting concluded several results on updating the status of progress at the regional level in the Arab region towards achieving the fourth goal of the sustainable development goals, identifying the main issues and challenges related to monitoring in achieving the education agenda, and sharing best practices in progress towards achieving the education agenda until 2030 at the national level. regional and global.

The meeting also concluded with achieving a common understanding of the progress achieved and the remaining challenges, gaps and specific priorities for action, and agreeing on a follow-up action plan at the regional level to assist Arab countries and accelerate progress towards achieving the fourth goal of the sustainable development goals in light of the meeting's deliberations, results and commitments resulting from it.

The Syrian delegation included the Secretary of the National Commission for UNESCO, Dr. Nidal Hassan, the Director of the Center for the Development of Educational Curricula, Dr. Nadia Al-Ghazouli, the Director of Planning and International Cooperation Ghassan Shoghari, and the Director of Planning and International Cooperation at the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research Mona Hammoud.

The meeting began on the sixth of July under the title “Education’s Resilience, Achieving Progress through the Decade of Work.”
