With the resumption of tourism, many French people plan to go to Spain this summer. Here is what you need to know before traveling there.

Each year, Spain is the most visited foreign country by French tourists.

With the resumption of the Covid-19 epidemic in recent weeks, more and more French people are asking questions about their upcoming trips to this border country, especially as Clément Beaune, the Secretary of State in charge of Business Europeans, recommended Thursday, July 8 to avoid Spain and Portugal.

Here is the information to have before leaving.

Update on the epidemic situation in Spain

The number of contaminations has been taking off in Spain for a few weeks: on Tuesday, the country had nearly 10,000 new cases of Covid-19.

This new wave is driven by a fairly young population.

The reason ?

The government has long given priority to the elderly.

The percentage of 20-29 year olds having received at least one dose of a vaccine is therefore only 13.8%, while it is 56.3% for the entire population.

Conditions of entry and return to Spain

Before entering Spain, French people must present at least one of the following four documents:

-

Complete proof of vaccination

: the certificate must include the date of vaccination, which must be at least 14 days old, the country where the vaccination was carried out, and the type of vaccine that was administered.

-

A negative PCR or antigen test

, issued within 48 hours of entering Spain.

Saliva tests performed outside of a laboratory are not accepted.

-

A certificate of recovery from Covid-19

.

This document is valid from the 11th day after the positive test, and up to 180 days.

It is in fact the screening test carried out when one has been tested positive: the certificate can consist of the document provided by the center which carried out the test, or be found in the Notebook tab of #AllAntiCovid by scanning the QR code of the test.

If the test certificate has been lost, it can be found on the SI-DEP platform.

- Since July 1, Europeans can also present

their health pass

.

To return to France, you must present a complete vaccination certificate, or have carried out an antigen test or PCR within 72 hours of return.

The only exceptions: people making "trips lasting less than 24 hours within a perimeter defined by a radius of 30 km around the place of residence", or "business trips whose urgency or frequency is incompatible with the performing a screening test or examination ”do not need to present these documents.

Health restrictions in Spain

How in France, several restrictions remain in place.

Among these, we find the obligation to wear a mask in closed spaces open to the public, in outdoor spaces where groupings do not allow social distancing to be respected, and in public transport.

Autonomous governments may also have specific rules.

: 6 people maximum are allowed to sit indoors, and 8 people maximum outdoors, in bars, cafes and restaurants.

Night clubs and bars welcome their last admissions at 2 a.m., and must close at 3 a.m.

The mask is compulsory inside and outside.

Extremadura

: the government has requested the closure for 14 days of the perimeter around two towns, Malpartida de Plasencia and Torrejoncillo, due to the sharp increase in the number of cases in these municipalities.

This is already the case for the city of Salvaleón.

Outside these towns, bars, restaurants and nightclubs close at 3 a.m.

Indoors, 6 people per table are accepted, and outdoors, 10 people per table.
