Dresden: Jewel theft in the Green Vault

The five main suspects of the break-in into the historic Green Vault in Dresden have already been captured. Now the investigators believe they also know who their possible helpers were.

In the course of the investigation into the theft of jewels from the historic Green Vault in Dresden, the four suspects who have been sought as possible helpers since March have been clearly identified.

The Dresden public prosecutor announced that there were two 28 and 35-year-old Germans, a 37-year-old Poland and a 24-year-old who had German and Polish citizenship.

The men are being investigated on suspicion of aiding and abetting serious gang theft.

They are said to have spied out the crime scene the day before the coup and then passed on their findings to the alleged perpetrators.

The accused are at large.

There is still only an initial, but no urgent suspicion.

During the spectacular break-in of the Treasury Museum on November 25, 2019, pieces of jewelery made from diamonds and brilliant-cut diamonds from the 17th and 18th centuries were stolen from a barely estimable value.

The jewels have not yet been found.

In raids in November and December 2020 and in May 2021 in Berlin, five men were arrested on urgent suspicions.

The 22 to 27-year-olds are said to have been directly involved in the coup, they are accused of serious gang theft and arson.

Four are in custody, one is currently serving a youth sentence.

You belong to the Remmo clan, which is also held responsible for other large crimes such as the theft of gold coins from the Berlin Bode Museum in 2017.
