(ANSA) - PORT AU PRINCE, JUL 08 - Ariel Henry, the Haitian personality appointed prime minister on July 5 by the late president Jovenel Moise, came out and in an interview claimed to be him, and not Claude Joseph, the interim prime minister who assumed full powers after the assassination of the head of state, to have the full right to lead the government of the country.

Interviewed by the newspaper Le Nouvellliste, Henry explained that he "did not want to pour fuel on the fire and increase an already serious fire, but my appointment was published in the Official Journal and I was already forming a government when they attacked the presidential residence".

Joseph, he added, "did a good job and was expected to continue as foreign minister in the new government structure." To solve this problem, he indicated, "I think there is an opportunity for dialogue that will lead us to an agreement and allow us to better prepare the future elections" at the moment set for 26 September.

Regarding the decisions taken by the current head of government, Henry argues that "some were too hasty, such as declaring a state of siege. I don't think we were in a situation that required it."

By profession a neurologist, the interviewee reiterated that "I am the prime minister, while Joseph was an outgoing interim premier who had resumed the post of foreign minister (assigned to him in 2020). And so in my opinion he is no longer prime minister. two prime ministers appointed in this country? ". (HANDLE).
