Through a clip shared on Twitter, the WABetaInfo account announced the arrival on WhatsApp of a convenient function to transfer chats and multimedia content between iPhone and Android, and vice versa. WABetaInfo periodically publishes news on WhatsApp in preview, often using developers who analyze the code of the beta versions of the app. Although still under development, the novelty is among the most awaited by users of the messaging client. To date, switching from one operating system to another causes the loss of both text messages and photos and videos sent and received by the original phone.
Some tricks allow you to keep files but these are long passages and not within everyone's reach. As can be seen from the video, the transfer phase takes place when WhatsApp is opened for the first time on the new smartphone. In addition to having to enter the phone number, the app will ask if you also want to move the content. At that point, you will have to connect the two phones, through a lightning-Usb-C cable, the two standards in use on iPhone and Android. There will therefore be no way, at least for the moment, to pass files wirelessly.
Another new feature coming with an upcoming update will be the export of the conversation history, including multimedia files, to a different phone number, which will be automatically associated with the account. We still await confirmation of the possibility of using the same number on two different devices, with the function better known as 'multi-device'. (HANDLE).
