The digitization of companies can lead to a demand for personnel with different skills than those placed on layoffs during Covid: for this reason, 1.5 million employees are at risk not only of not returning to their previous employment, but also of the possibility of find a different job without having the skills to do it.
This was underlined by the 25th Report on the global economy and Italy, presented by the Einaudi Center and by Intesa Sanpaolo in the auditorium of the skyscraper of the bank.
The Report, edited by Mario Deaglio, professor emeritus of International Economics at the University of Turin, highlights the transformations in the world of work due to the lockdown and explains that there will be no turning back from some changes. "Online commerce and smart working are here to stay: to certify the end of an era, in 2020 the sales of gray clothes - the formal suits for men, symbol of clerical and managerial work in the last century - are more than halved compared to 2011 ". It becomes decisive for Italy to find a solution, together with that of women, to the problem of NEETs, subjects under the age of 30 who are neither employed nor engaged in study and training activities.
