(ANSA) - NEW YORK, JUL 09 - The IMF executive council approved "my proposal regarding a new general allocation of Special Drawing Rights worth 650 billion dollars to meet the global need for currency reserves during the worst crisis since times of the Great Depression ". This was stated by the director general of the IMF, Kristalina Georgieva. The allocation of SDRs, the Fund's currency, is a "confidence boost for the whole world" and will increase the "liquidity and currency reserves of all our member countries, building confidence and fostering the resilience and stability of the global economy".
