Bad news for one of the stars of Cannes.

Léa Seydoux, expected at the festival at the start of the week, has tested positive for Covid-19.

Information revealed by Variety magazine and which we are able to confirm.

“Lea has tested positive.

Asymptomatic and vaccinated, one of his relatives told us this Saturday.

She is tested daily and is waiting for her doctor's instructions!

"

The 36-year-old actress could nevertheless cancel or delay her visit to the Croisette, where she is showing four films presented in official selection, three of which are in competition.

It was even the actress that we were to see the most at the top of the red carpet next week, from the 13th with the rise of the steps for "The French Dispatch" by Wes Anderson, shot in Angoulême and distributed by Disney.

The actress is part of an international cast there alongside Benicio Del Toro, Timothée Chalamet, Frances McDormand, Tilda Swinton, some of whom, like Bill Murray, will be present on the Croisette.

It will be more complicated for the other films, where she plays the main roles, in particular for “France” by Bruno Dumont.

The actress is also featured in “The Story of My Wife” by Hungarian Ildiko Enyedi, also in competition and a feature film presented in the new Cannes Première section, “Tromperie” by Arnaud Desplechin.

"There is no Cannes cluster"

The arrival or not of Lea Seydoux is not the only health problem that the organizers of the festival have to manage.

Since a photo circulated at the start of this 74th edition, showing unmasked spectators in the basket of the great Lumière room, reminder measures on the obligation to wear the mask in projection have been tightened, in particular with a message audio from Pierre Lescure, president of the festival, at the start of each screening.

But festival-goers underline a paradox: the sanitary pass is compulsory to access the two screening rooms in the Palace, Bazin and Bunuel, and to enter the Palace itself, which is rarely visited this year, although it is not necessary for crowded screenings in the other Lumière and Debussy rooms. Government rules provide that places like the Palace are subject to the pass but not cinemas.

More disturbing: we know that three positive cases - a journalist, a security guard, the wife of a director - have been detected in the Palace in recent days. The organization emphasizes that this is very little, when we know that 3,000 tests were carried out on site on Friday, all negative, as Thierry Frémaux, the general director of the Festival, recalled. "There is no Cannes cluster," he said. In short, the virus is becoming a real cause for concern: is the epidemic becoming the star of the Festival?
